How do I begin to describe the United Arrows stores in Japan? They are a chain but that’s like saying Hermes shops are a chain. United Arrows carries the most extraordinary mix of high end men’s and women’s clothing. Their buyers travel the world in search of the absolute best of the best. You have to love a store that has the most fastidious, in-house shoe shine man in the world!

Okay, despite what some may think, my trips to Japan are not simply about eating although that is always a highlight! Here I am with the amazing team from Kose making packaging decisions for the new line of Stephen Knoll New York styling products. I know I look asleep in the last shot but, trust me, I’m not :) I love these meetings. One always learns so much. The products can be spectacular but if the packaging isn’t perfect, it just doesn’t work!

Goju-no-to Five Story Pagoda is the world’s oldest wooden pagoda. In addition to being known for its 1001 statues of Buddha, it is believed the pagoda contains some of his ashes.
Patrick, Akiko and I had the incredible honor of visiting the Sorinji Temple for a private tour conducted by the only Buddhist monk living there. The Temple is located in a 100 family village near Kyoto.
